Through this initiative, we award scholarships to 100 deserving students who meet specific eligibility criteria, such as low family income, being from female-headed households, or families with multiple dependents. Priority is given to academically talented children with special educational needs. The entire selection process is carried out with transparency and fairness by the Education Committee, under the close supervision of the Executive and Audit Committees of the Association.
At the Matara Young Buddhist Association, we are dedicated to creating equal educational opportunities for children from low-income families. Through our scholarship program, we provide consistent financial support to help talented students continue their education without interruption. Scholarship funds are deposited monthly into the personal bank accounts of selected students or their guardians, ensuring transparency and direct access to support.
The Matara Young Buddhist Association is a community-driven organization dedicated to empowering children from low-income families through access to quality education. Our scholarship program supports educationally talented students in the Matara Administrative District of Sri Lanka’s Southern Province, ensuring that financial challenges do not stand in the way of their academic dreams. We firmly believe that every child has the right to education, and by nurturing their potential, we help shape responsible, capable citizens for the nation’s future.
It all started with a few volunteers who believed education could change lives. Their vision was to help students in need, one scholarship at a time.
As more donors and mentors joined, the program grew stronger — reaching more schools and inspiring students to chase their dreams.
Today, our scholarship initiative continues to open doors for hundreds of students, turning dreams into real achievements every year.
